Due to conflicts with other grades' end-of-the-year parties, a few parents who originally volunteered to drive to the boardwalk next week will now not be able to do so.  At this point, I have just enough drivers which makes me a bit nervous not to have a little cushion for any last minute changes.  So...if anyone would still like to come along as a driver/chaperone next week,  I would very much appreciate it!  Please let your child know or email me if this would work for you.

Thanks!!!

We're near the end, and excitement is definitely in the air! Homework will be light this week - reading each night and the States and Capitals test on Thursday.  Remember that the final day to take an AR test is this Friday.

Thanks to all parents who volunteered to drive on our Boardwalk trip next Wednesday, 6/4.  I will be confirming with all of you soon.

Have a good week!

Open House is Thursday, May 22, and, unfortunately, I will not be here for the event.  My daughter is graduating from the University of Colorado in Denver on the 23rd, and I will be attending the ceremony.  I do plan to have my classroom open the evening of Open House so all my students and their families may come in and view their work.  I will also open up my classroom on Wednesday , 5/21(from about 6:00-7), for anyone who would prefer to come by while I am here.  I will send home a flyer tomorrow asking if you would be interested in coming in on Wed.  Thanks in advance for your understanding.

Tomorrow morning is our volunteer appreciation breakfast in the park.  Please stop by if you can and join us for coffee and treats.  I want to express my sincere appreciation for all the help I've received this year from working in the classroom to driving on field trips.  You have been a terrific group of parents to work with this year!

Homework

Bring in your book report book tomorrow.  We will write the rough draft of the summary in class.  Also, if you want to bring your can or box (you can also use a cereal box) in to be measured for art paper, you may do this as well.

Homework:

The heritage report is due tomorrow.  We will give our oral presentations first thing in the morning.

Monday, May 5, 2014

Testing will begin for 5th grade tomorrow with the CST Science test.  The kids will be taking the new Common Core tests next week beginning on Monday.

I sent home corrected work today and an up-to-date progress report.  Please review this with your child.  We still have a month left of school and a few more grades to add to each subject area.

The only homework I am assigning this week is the heritage report - both written and oral.  These are both due on Thursday.  The book report is due next week on the 14th.  I will have everyone write the rough draft of the summary in class this Friday morning.

Thanks and have a good week!

I  sent home the permission slips for the 5th grade trip to the Boardwalk today.  The price for an unlimited ride pass is $22.00.  Please make out checks to the Rio del Mar Parent Alliance (RDMPA).  I'm requesting that all money be turned in by Wed., May 17.  This will ensure that we receive the wristbands on time.  If your child has a pass, he or she may use it that day.
