We worked on the summaries for the book reports today. Your child should have a good start on it and should have the list of elements that need to be included in it. They will need to complete the final draft of the summary at home. I sent home a final checklist for the report. Please review it with your child. Thanks.

I'm sure you have already heard that we will be watching the movie version of Bridge to Terabithia tomorrow and that the kids can wear pajamas or any "crazy" attire they choose. This is not meant to be a party day - we will have our usual spelling and math tests - but I did promise them the movie, and tomorrow is the best day to watch it!
We began putting the museum exhibits together today. They are very cool! We'll set them up for display tomorrow.
***The study guide for next Wednesday's science test is coming home today. Please review it with your child.

Hello,
It was so nice to meet with all of you last week. I really appreciated your insights, suggestions, and, above all, the wonderful support you give your children.
Your child is bringing home the study guide for Thursday's social studies test today.
I also sent home the guidelines for the second book report. I will work with them on the written portion of the report next week in class. I've changed the due date to Thursday, 11/6.
We are continuing to work on the museum project in class. Tomorrow each group will assess where they are and how much more they need to do. I will then help them set goals for finishing up unfinished work at home and will include deadlines on the nightly homework list.
Tomorrow I will be sending home the permission slips for our NASA Ames field trip on 11/7. Please let me know if you can drive - NASA will only allow 10 parent chaperones, so please respond right away if you would like to come along.

Looking ahead to next week... I will be giving a science test on Wednesday, 10/29. A study guide will go home this Thursday!

Thanks and have a good week.

Hello,
This week we are focusing on our social studies "museum" project which showcases the early American colonies. Each student is responsible for creating three products for his or her group's exhibit: 1) a written piece, 2) a chart, map, or diagram, and 3)an art piece. The final draft of the written piece is due this Thursday. We will have a workshop time on Wednesday to work on the art component which will be due next week.
The completed exhibit is due on Friday, 10/24.

Our first field trip is coming up next month. We will be going to NASA Ames in Mountain View on Friday, November 7. I will be sending home permission slips and more detailed information later this week.

I look forward to seeing you all at conferences this week!
