We've talked in class, and perhaps you have already heard, about adopting a family through Jacob's Heart this holiday season. Jacob's Heart is a local organization that supports families with children who have cancer. I have done this with my class for the past several years, and the folks there have always been extremely grateful. We agreed on a $5 donation per student. Of course, there is no obligation.

Tomorrow I will be giving my students the guidelines for our Poetry Cafe activity which will be due on Wednesday, Dec. 7. I will be encouraging them to read poems by different poets, especially ones they are not already familiar with. I would really love for everyone to discover a new poet and new poetry that he or she finds interesting and engaging.

Once again, I want to thank you all for the wonderful support you give your children. Enjoy them - and all family and friends - over the coming Thanksgiving holiday!

***Please go over the guidelines for the national park report. We will be taking notes, outlining, and writing the rough draft of the report in class. The final draft will be assigned as homework. Report cards went home today. They have a new look, and as you all know, contain numbers instead of letter grades. The numbers are based on percents, just as the letter grades have been in the past. Please let me know if you have any questions.
